How Laundly collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information.
Last updated: 28 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Laundly (“Laundly”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use the Laundly mobile apps and related services (the “Service”). We handle your information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.
We only collect what we need to run your laundry service.
Account details — your name, email address and phone number.
Addresses — the pickup/delivery addresses you save, including any access notes and (if you choose) approximate map coordinates.
Orders — the services you book, bag sizes, add-ons, instructions, weights and order history.
Payments — card payments are processed by Stripe. Laundly never sees or stores your full card number; we keep a payment reference and the amount/status only.
Location — with your permission, your device location to find your nearest franchise and confirm a pickup address (see Section 4).
Photos — images you optionally add of your pickup spot, and proof-of-pickup / proof-of-delivery photos captured by drivers.
Device & usage — a push-notification token, app version, device type, and basic in-app analytics and crash diagnostics so we can keep the app working.
2How we use your information
To create and manage your account and provide the Service.
To process orders, take payment, and arrange pickup and delivery.
To send you order updates and notifications (push, SMS and email).
To verify your phone number (one-time codes via our SMS provider).
To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud, and meet legal and accounting obligations.
To improve the app using aggregated, non-identifying usage data.
3Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
Your local Laundly franchise — to fulfil your orders.
Drivers — the name, address and instructions needed to collect and deliver your laundry, while your order is active.
Service providers who help us run Laundly, under contract: Stripe (payments), Supabase (secure hosting and database), our SMS and email providers (notifications and verification), push services (Apple, Google and Expo), and analytics/diagnostics providers.
Authorities or advisors where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Laundly, our customers or others.
4Location data
Customers: we use your location only to match you to your nearest franchise and to confirm your pickup address. You can deny this and enter your address manually.
Drivers (Laundly Franchise app): while a driver is on shift, their live location is shared so customers can watch their driver approach. This is used only for active deliveries.
5How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information while your account is active. When you delete your account (Section 6), we remove or anonymise your personal details. We retain a de-identified record of completed orders and payments where we are required to for legal, tax and accounting purposes — this data can no longer identify you.
6Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, directly in the app: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my account. This permanently removes your saved addresses, anonymises your profile (name, phone, photo, email), and disables sign-in. It cannot be undone. As noted above, anonymised order/payment records may be retained for legal and accounting reasons.
7Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct it if it’s wrong (you can edit most details in the app).
Delete your account and personal data (Section 6).
Complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz) if you’re concerned about how we’ve handled your information.
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.
9Children
Laundly is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
10Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
